Our Scholarship Fund
Our scholarship fund was established as part of our mission to provide high-quality education to all our students, regardless of income. This fund will help support families who may need extra assistance with the monthly tuition. A certain number of scholarships will be available each year, assisting a minimum of 10% of our school population. Scholarship amounts range from 25% to 100% of the yearly tuition. The goal of our institution is to increase the number of available scholarships each year in order to create a diverse community of learners.
Who will make final decisions on scholarship recipients?
Our scholarship committee, appointed, and when needed, replaced by the governing board, will consist of one board member, one teaching staff member, and one non-teaching staff member. They will review all applicants and take steps to verify all documentation provided by family to be true.
Who is eligible for the scholarships?
Families whose children have been accepted at one of our organization’s schools, either at the Early Childhood Center or elementary level, are eligible. These families must also fall below maximum income requirements. Some families who need partial assistance paying for tuition may be eligible, up to 270% of the poverty line. All families are required to demonstrate their financial need as measured by the set standards.
Are there any academic requirements?
No. Our main goal in offering scholarships to our students is to help children from families in need. We understand that academic success comes from the hard work of all stakeholders over a long period of time. Children in pre-K and elementary may not be doing well in their current school, and may need a different educational setting. Our schools strive to provide the support system they need to improve academically and reach their greatest potential.
If there are no academic requirements, what requirements are there?
Though our scholarship fund does not require high academic achievements, it does require effort both on the part of the parents and the students. Students must maintain an average daily attendance rate of 95% or greater. Students must also maintain an excellent discipline record. No scholarship will be continued if a child is expelled from school, or has a record of negative behavior. A scholarship will also be revoked, and the family subject to repayment of any funds paid on their behalf, if it is found they obtained the scholarship through false information.
Scholarships are generally awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. There are only a limited number of scholarships each year, so the earlier you complete your application, the better chance you will have of receiving a scholarship. Scholarships are awarded to all eligible children in a family, provided they meet the attendance and behavior criteria.
Families receive from 25%-100% of their tuition, on a sliding scale, depending on their income and house size. Even if a family receives 100% tuition coverage, they must still contribute the application /evaluation fee per year for school enrollment. They must also participate in a minimum of one fundraising drive per year.
It is our goal that the scholarships be extended through the end of 6th grade. However, this depends on the availability of funding and on the family and student’s continuing eligibility.
